Already with her second new 800m program record of the season, Academy of Art track & field’s Lina Hanich joined the event’s best in NCAA Division II history at the Stanford Invitational.

Helping pace a dynamic heat in which all seven competitors ran 2:08.08 or faster, Hanich contended with Washington's Chloe Foerster before taking nearly two full seconds off the Academy of Art record, finishing at 2:03.60. The mark elevated the Advertising major to seventh in NCAA DII history (not unlike her fifth-place indoor time of 2:05.41 from this past February) along with the No. 2 spot in the country this season.

Prior to her breakthrough in the 800m, Hanich highlighted Friday's action by running her fastest 400m to date. She turned in a 54.84 time that was fifth of 35 at Stanford, also fifth in program history, and 12th among Outdoor Nationals provisional qualifiers in 2025.
