Freshman Johnny Carter had a truly unforgettable collegiate debut at the UAB Blazer Invitational this past Friday. With a triple jump of 50-9.25 (15.47m) that automatically qualified him for the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships, Carter immediately launched himself into the top mark in the country for that event. The distance was also a new ART U program record, besting the previous mark (49-2.25) by a considerable margin.

“It was a great feeling being where I belong.. on the track!” Carter said. “Even though I wasn't one hundred percent, I refused to leave the pit without making a statement that I am here and ready!”

Carter also competed in the 60m dash and offered the second farthest long jump in ART U program history with his 24-7 (7.49mM) distance to reach NCAA DII provisional status with that mark as well.
