Academy of Art's big matchup with Sonoma State on Sunday came down to a singles match between one of the Seawolves top seniors and the Urban Knights' freshman phenom Annika Schneider, and with the match on the line, Schneider staved off a comeback by Sheena Johnson and held on for a three-set win, taking it 7-5, 4-6, 6-1. Schneider teamed up with Michelle Dandik Zaale to win both of her doubles matches for the week, including the win over #3 BYU-Hawaii's third doubles team.
In her debut campaign for the Knights, the Weisloch, Germany native is 10-2 overall in singles play, playing primarily in the fourth slot. In doubles play, she and Dandik Zaale make quite a team, going 13-1 in the third spot and winning their last eight matches in a row.
