It was another breakout weekend for Academy of Art track & field's Selena Arjona-Alcazar at Pitt State's Indoor Gorilla Classic in Kansas this past week.

After elevating to seventh in NCAA Division II with an Indoor Nationals provisional and personal record 24.34 in the 200m on Feb. 11, the Communications & Media Technologies major proceeded to tie multi-time Hall of Famer Vashti Thomas' program record in the 60m with a 7.40 which is currently third in the country on Feb. 12. Later that same day, Arjona-Alcazar joined teammates Ombretta Picciolie Minkue Meye, Alice Coisne, and Lina Hanich in running the 11th-fastest 4x400m relay in the nation thus far at 3:47.10.

"On Friday, Selena ran a personal best in the 200m with a top 10 time nationally at 24.34 in only her second 200m of the season," said Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Kevin LaSure. "She followed that up with great performances on Saturday, first in the 60m finishing second overall with a time of 7.40, which ties the school record held by Hall of Famer Vashti Thomas. Any time you are mentioned with a legend like Vashti in track & field you are doing something amazing. She followed that up with a 55-second split on the 4x400m relay to improve upon our season-best by more than four seconds."
