AAU drops second match in a row

The Academy of Art women's volleyball team lost its second match in row this afternoon to the visiting Chaminade Silverswords. Chaminade dominated the match winning in 3 sets, 25-17, 25-20, 25-19. The Academy of Art women had 10 service errors on the nights, and 5 reception errors.

The Urban Knights who seemed to play flat all game were rarely closer than 2 points away the entire game.

The first set saw Chaminade jump out to an early 6-0 lead and never look back,  the Urban Knights were able to come to within a few points but the set was won on a Kill by Tonya Radanovic, an Ace by Samantha Miller and an attack error by AAU.

The Urban Knights seemed to come alive in the second set, starting the match with a Kill and an Ace by KaUwila Lavea.  It stayed close between the Silverswords and the Urban Knights until late in the match, Chaminade finished the set on a 9-4 run. Beating the Knights 25-20.

The third set saw the Silverswords jump out to an early 14-9 lead. The Urban Knights, with the help of Dan Yang, started a run late in the set but it was too late as they lost the set 25-19.

For Chaminade Trina Kavliakamoa led with 6 kills, while Pisila Tukia chipped in with 5. Tatiana Alvino had 17 assists, and Chauntelle Maduli and Trina Kavliakamoa had 7 and 6 digs respectively.

For the Academy of Art Dan Yang had 12 kills followed by Angela Heath with 6. Olivia White had a match high 27 assists. Although AAU had more Kills(36-27) and assists (35-24) The Urban Knights were unable to emerge victorious, due to the numerous service and attack errors made on the night.

The Knights hope to get their 11th win this Thursday when they take on Dominican University 4pm at Kezar Pavilion.
