Santa Rosa, CA-- Chico State shot the low-round of the day, a 286, to earn the team victory on Tuesday at the Sonoma State Men's Golf Invitational at Santa Rosa Golf & Country Club. It was the third straight win in the event for the seventh-ranked Wildcats. Academy of Art finished the day two spots below where it started, in
12th place.
However on a more positive note, individual medalist honors went to Matthew Garcia, who fired a 68-70--138 to top all competitors. Garcia edged out Kyle Souza of Chico State by one stroke to take the first place honor.
The Urban Knights followed Monday's 303 with a 306 to finish at 609, two stroke behind Sonoma States B team and 31 strokes behind the Invitational leader, Chico State.
Matt Garcia was the Urban Knights' top individual finisher, in 1st at 68-70-138.
Erik Majzner finished tied for 37th 75 -77 - 152, Stuart Favretto ended the invitational tied for 66th 76 83 - 159, and just one stroke behind him with a total of 160 Dave Carney shot an 84 his first day and 76 to finish tied for 69th.
