Box Score

Hilo, HI --

Junior outside hitter Jelena Jakovljevic led the Urban Knights with eight kills, but the team collectively hit .106 which was not enough to keep up with the Vulcans. AAU's record now stands at 16-10 overall and 4-6 in the Pacific West Conference while Hawaii-Hilo improves 21-1 overall and 11-1 in league play.

The first set saw a very close match-up in which no team was able to shake the other until late in the match. AAU struck first scoring the first point off a Dan Yang kill. Their lead was short lived as Hilo answered by scoring the next two points. The Urban Knights were able to keep up with the #17 Vulcans, but a 22-22 tie was as close as AAU would get to victory, as Hilo finished the set on a 3-0 run bringing the final score to 25-22.

The Urban Knights were not able to catch a break in the second set,  they committed 9 errors while only registering five kills. The Vulcans were able to capitalize on these mistakes and easily walk away with set two, they cruised to a 25-11 win.

In the third set the Urban Knights tried to stave off a sweep but were not successful. There were 12 ties and AAU was up 16-12 mid way through the set, but Hilo managed to tie the score again at 21. The Vulcans closed out the set on a 4-1 run, taking the game and the match with a 25-22 score.

The Urban Knights will play the University of Hawaii - Hilo again tomorrow in the final of two meetings.
