Phoenix, AZ -- Junior guard
Phillip Samuel earned a spot on the Pacific West Conference Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll this week for his his performances against Cal State Monterey Bay and The Master's College in the opening week of the season. He averaged 16.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game in those contests including a 25-point showing against TMC on Nov. 21. The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Thursday, Nov. 26, for games contested Oct. 30-Nov. 22.
In the game versus the Mustangs,
Samuel connected on four 3-pointers (the most in his career as an Urban Knight) while also adding four rebounds and two steals. The 25 points were the third-most scored by Samuel in his career with AAU and the most he has scored since dropping 29 points against American Sports University on Feb. 7, 2009.
Samuel had seven points to go with six rebounds against CSUMB in the teams' first official game of the season on Nov. 15. At the conclusion of the week, he was tied for sixth in the PacWest Conference in scoring average and tied for third in 3-pointers made per game (2.5).
