Belmont, CA: After a slow start yesterday, the Academy of Art University Men's Golf team moved up four spots from yesterday, tying St. Martin's University for a 10th place finish. The Urban Knights shot a cumulative 307 in Round 3, thereby improving their cumulative score from Round 2 by an impressive 9 strokes. Not only did the Knights end the tournament on a high note, but their cumulative score was enough to best the 14th ranked team in the nation, University of Hawaii Hilo.
Sophomore Erik Majzner shot a 75 and solidified a 34th place finish individually. Majzner's performance also earned him the top spot out of all the competing Urban Knights, barely beating out freshman Matt Garcia by one stroke. Garcia, who led the Knights after Day 1, shot a 79 in Round 3 and placed 38th individually. Freshman Stuart Favretto finished the tournament two strokes behind Majzner, with a cumulative score of 233 and a 41st place finish. 15 schools and 75 individual golfers competed in the 2009 NDNU Invitational.
