Women's Golf Takes 8th At Grand Canyon Tourney

The Academy of Art University women's golf team kicked off its fall season with an 8th place finish at the Grand Canyon Women's Fall Invitational held at the Coldwater Golf Club on Monday through Tuesday. Freshman Laura Huertas had the top performance for the Urban Knights with a tie for 13th place and a total score of 148. It was the team's first competition and the Knights defeated Chico State as well as St. Martin's head-to-head in the tournament.

Finishing behind Huertas, freshman Crystal Superal took home a tie for 20th place with her score of 150. Freshmen Andrea Nieto and Lyra Yo, in the final two spots for AAU, had a tie for 37th (two-day score 154) and a tie  for 46th (two-day score 156) respectively. All four Knights finished under 80 on both days.

Northern Arizona finished with a first-place team result as it had the top individual score of 142 awarded to its Stephanie Kim.

The Urban Knights will continue their fall season with the Sonoma State Invitational held in Santa Rosa, CA on Oct. 18.
