KNIGHTS FACE PENGUINS IN FINAL HOME GAME OF JANUARY:
Academy of Art University men's basketball is now four games into its first PacWest season and Dominican University is the last opponent before AAU gets set for a four-game Hawaii roadtrip.

SCOUTING THE PENGUINS:
Dominican University, a new arrival to the Pacific West Conference this year like AAU, currently sits at seventh place in the PacWest standings. The Penguins finished their non-conference season with a 3-8 record that included victories over Western Oregon, Cal State East Bay, and Holy Names, but began PacWest play with two tough losses to HPU and UHH. On Jan. 16, DUC then won its historic first league game, a 68-59 triumph over Grand Canyon. Despite a 29-point performance from guard and leading scorer Austin Bryan, Dominican could not top Dixie State most recently on Jan. 18 in a 74-72 thriller. Bryan averages 17.3 points per game (3rd best in the PacWest) and has made 27 3-pointers. Forward Alex Ward backs him up with 11.3 points per game and a team-best 6.1 rebounds per game.
AAU CAN'T COMPLETE COMEBACK AGAINST ANTELOPES:
Academy of Art was unable to defeat visiting Grand Canyon in a 62-48 conference loss this past Monday, Jan. 18 at Kezar Pavilion. Though the Urban Knights fell behind early, they fought back with a 7-0 run and trailed the 'Lopes 34-22 at the half. When GCU built a larger advantage in the second period, AAU rallied back with a 12-1 burst that kept the game close. Academy of Art got the lead down to nine points on back-to-back fast break layups, but Grand Canyon would hold on for the win. Junior guard
Lance Olivier had arguably his best game in an Urban Knights uniform thus far. He achieved season-highs with 11 points, seven assists, and four rebounds in addition to three made 3-pointers.
LOOKING AHEAD:
The Knights have a week off before traveling to Hawaii for a four-game road swing over seven days. AAU begins with a rematch against Hawaii Pacific on Jan. 30 followed by another meeting with Hawaii-Hilo (Feb. 1) along with contests against BYU-Hawaii (Feb. 3) and Chaminade (Feb. 5).
