Phoenix, AZ -- Senior Irinel Zamfir adds yet another Pacific West Conference Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll selection to her collection. For a strong performance at the 2010 Western Washington Univeristy Cross Country Classic after a sickness kept her out last week, Zamfir placed 34th to lead Academy of Art University. She has now earned five honors this season. The selection was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Oct. 25, for races contested on Oct. 23.

Zamfir posted a career best time of 24:30.7 on the 6k course this past Saturday. Despite running on a hard-pack gravel surface for most of the competition, the Suceava, Romania native came through ahead of runners from Humboldt State and Western Washington.

In 2010, Zamfir has now earned five PacWest Weekly Top 10 honors, pushing her career total to seven since Academy of Art University was eligible last season.
