Schumacher Captures All-PacWest Second Team Selection

2010 All-PacWest Women's Cross Country Team

Junior Cassandra Schumacher led by example at the 2010 Pacific West Conference Cross Country Championships and earned an All-PacWest Second Team honor for her efforts. Placing 8th individually to help guide Academy of Art University into 3rd place, Schumacher ran another strong race in the season's final competition. The distinction was announced on the PacWest Magazine Radio Show on Tuesday, Nov. 16.

In the championship competition, Schumacher posted a time of 24:12.5 on the 6k Turtle Bay Race Course which serves as her new career best. The Sweet Home, Oregon native managed to beat out top qualifiers from Hawaii-Hilo and Chaminade with her 8th place finish.

With the 2010 season now in the books, Schumacher served as the top Urban Knight runner in four races this year. Of the team's 5k runs, her highest individual placement came at the 2010 Mills Invitational where she took 6th and her best time was 19:25.8 at the 2010 Bronco Invitational just over a month later.

Schumacher picks up her first career All-PacWest Second Team honor and the third in ART U women's cross country program history. This season, Schumacher earned two PacWest Runner of the Week honors and two selections to the Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll.
