Recapping the Knights: The Urban Knights recently concluded a two day, three game road trip in Utah this past weekend. The women played well but came up short in all three of their games. AAU even took on Southern Utah University who are Division I members. The Urban Knights lost to Dixie State and Southern Utah with a score of 3-6, and ended up dropping the final game to Mesa State 2-7.

Playing at Home: The Urban Knights begin their first home stand of the 2010 season this week .They will host all PacWest teams during the three game home stand. They start by hosting Dominican University on Wednesday, March 3rd. The Knights then play Dixie State less than a week later on March 9th.

Leading AAU: Junior Laone "Lala" Botshoma continues to impress with her powerful play well into this season. She leads the Knights with a 6-3 overall record. Sophomore Diane Phan and Maria "Belen" Tenorio are close behind, both with a 5-4 overall record. On the doubles side, the combination of Diane Phan and Laone Botshoma leads the way for the team with a 4-5 record.

Scouting Dominican University: Dominican University has played the fewest games in the PacWest but has looked promising in those matches. They currently have a 2-0 record. The Urban Knights and the Penguins were supposed to face off on February 24th, but rain became a problem and the game was rescheduled for March 14th. Seniors Stephanie Lamp and Michele Freitas lead the Penguins so far this season. They also buddy up for a powerful combination in doubles. In their lone meeting last season, the Knights defeated the Penguins with a score of 7-2.

Scouting Dixie State: The Red Storm is currently one slot ahead of the Academy of Art University in the PacWest standings. Dixie has an overall record of 4-5 this season with a two game winning streak. Most recently they defeated Mesa State College at home this past weekend. Senior Ashley Lafeen, freshman Courtney Kazerian, and sophomore Laura Tarver are leading the Red Storm in singles this season. In their two meetings last year, the Urban Knights easily defeated Dixie 6-3 in both games.

Looking Ahead: After the two games at home, the Academy of Art University will travel across the Bay to face Dominican University in the make-up game scheduled for March 14th. The game will take place in San Rafael, CA at 1:30 PM. After their one game on the road, AAU will return home to play Grand Canyon before they head to Hawaii for their next tournament.
