Final Results
Hayward, CA --- The Academy of Art University women's golf team earned an impressive second place finish in the Pioneer Shootout held at the Hiddenbrooke Golf Course this past . Braving the 35-40 mile per hour winds, 39 degree temperature, rain as well as hail, the Urban Knights finished Monday's action in third place and beat out teams like St. Martin's as well as Chico State for the second spot. Crystal Superal captured second individually with a 73 on the second day and a 154 (81-73) overall.
As a team, AAU posted a solid 654 (338-316) which saw them register the third best score on Day Two (316).
Superal led the way with a 73 that day which was tied for the top score of all 39 competitors. Behind her, freshman
Lyra Yoe finished tied for fourth overall with a 158 (81-77) and freshman
Laura Huertas added a 159 (83-76) which was good for a sixth place tie. That made Academy of Art University the only team to have three golfers in the top 10 individually.

Andrea Nieto contributed a 183 (93-90), earning her a tie for 31st place while freshman
Khadija Del-Lero finished in the 36th slot overall with a 208 (108-100). All Knights improved on the second day pushing the team up in front of St. Martin's.
The top score in the tournament was Sonoma State University's 638 (328-310) who carried the number one finished Spencer Heller and her 152 (79-73) result.
Academy of Art stays local for its next tournament, the Dominican Invitational, which will take place Mar. 14-16 at Peacock Gap in San Rafael, CA.
