San Francisco, CA-- The Urban Knight Track and Field team split up today when a handful of athletes headed to Palo Alto, CA to participate in the Stanford Invitational, while the other set of student-athletes traveled across town to take part in the Distance Carnival hosted by San Francisco State University.
Assistant Coach Anne Ricketts had much to be proud of today as she watched her Urban Knight squad achieve and surpass expectations. "We had a very good day on the track today, a lot of the first year athletes (spirits) are true leaders and are improving each week in every meet", said Ricketts. Proving her leadership was
Jazmin White, who has been spot on all season.
White won the Women's 200 Meter in 25.87 as well as placed second in the 400 meter dash, finishing in 59.88.
Following right behind her teammate in the 200 and 400 was
Kristen Lee who placed third in the 200 with a time of 26.26 and fourth in the 400 (1:01.25).
In the women's 800 all three runners achieved personal bests,
Irinel Zamfir ran a 2:22, while
Denisse Correa and ran the 800 in 2:30, and
Stacey Toth finished in 2:38.
On the men's side,
Aric Armon took first in the 100 meter dash, his time of 11.17 was good enough to beat out runners from Western Washington and Humboldt State.
While Assistant Coach Anne Ricketts was with part of the AAU squad at SF State, Head Coach Victor Hudson took a handful of athletes to Stanford University to participate in the Stanford Invitational.
On top for AAU after day one, Sophomore
Briana Stewart had the fifth fastest time in the women's 100m meter hurdles.

During day two of the Stanford Invitational
Briana Stewart placed second in the triple jump with a jump of 42 feet. The sophomore was up against some of the country's top athletes and held her own. "
Stanford is hugely competitive meet", Said Ricketts "To place that high against such fine athletes is amazing". Stewart didn't stop with the triple jump, she also placed fourth in the 100 hurdles with a time of 13.88.
