Hitting the road one more time: The Urban Knights head on the road for the final time this season starting at Grand Canyon University, and finishing locally at Notre Dame de Namur University. It will be a tough road competition for the Knights as they will play eight games in two weeks. AAU will face Grand Canyon on April 2nd and 3rd, and then conclude their conference road play with Notre Dame de Namur on April 10th and 11th.

Recap of the homestand: Upon returning from Hawaii, the Knights have played some tough Division II ball. Their first game back was against Humboldt State of the CCAA, and finished the double header with a split. The Knights then started a winning streak after a complete series sweep (four games) against PacWest members BYU Hawaii. Most recently the women hosted the No. 3 team in the Nation, Hawaii Pacific. The Urban Knights split with them the first day, but couldn't manage with another win against them, and dropped the series to the Sea Warriors three games to one.

AAU Leaders: Junior Ashley Lokey leads the team with a .421 batting average with 45 hits, 28 runs, nine doubles, one triple, and a .523 on base percentage. After a strong home stand, Lokey now has four home runs on the season. Alana Aweau is third on the team with a .379 batting average, but leads with seven home runs, 27 RBI's, and a .650 slugging percentage. Sierrah Garcia has been solid on the mound for the Knights throughout the season. She has a current ERA of 2.76, a 12-6 record, and has 140 strikeouts in 137 innings pitched. Garcia also set a new single game record, career record, and school record when she posted 16 strikeouts in the second game against BYU Hawaii on March 25th.

Scouting Grand Canyon University: The 'Lopes are having a great season. They are ranked 25th in the Nation according to the NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association) and sit in the number two spot in the PacWest standings. They have an overall record of 31-6, and have suffered only four losses in conference. The 'Lopes are led by Teddy Barry who is batting a .441 with 52 hits, 45 runs, two triples, 11 home runs, has a .823 slugging percentage, 21 walks, and is 15-16 in stolen bases. Right behind her is Tracy Lubken who has a .402 batting average with 45 hits, 43 runs, 15 double, and 47 RBI's. GCU's pitchers Ivy Campas and Amy Searcy both have a current 2.68 ERA. Campas has a 17-4 record with 77 strikeouts in over 122 innings, while Searcy has a 12-2 record and 53 strikeouts in over 88 innings pitched. This will be the first time the two teams have faced each other.

Scouting Notre Dame de Namur University: The Argos sit in 7th place in the PacWest standings with a 6-14 conference record. Earlier in the season, the Argos defeated No.12 ranked Sonoma State with a score of 4-1. All of their other wins have come in conference. NDNU is led by Mary Ortega who has a .344 batting average with 33 hits, 17 runs, four doubles, six home runs, 55 total bases, 15 walks, and a .438 on base percentage. Also putting up big numbers is Breanna Morales who is batting .284 with 29 hits, 17 runs, six doubles, two home runs, and 18 runs batted in. Leading them on the mound is Sammy McConvey who has a 2.33 ERA and a 3-9 record. McConvey has 45 strikeouts in 99.1 innings pitched. Last year when they two teams faced each other in a single game, the Urban Knights defeated the Argos with a score of 2-1.

Looking Ahead: After the road trip, the Urban Knights will hold their final homestand of the season that will span from April 14th to April 25th. They will start by hosting Holy Names University in their last non-conference games of the season. The Knights then conclude conference play by hosting Dominican University, and finally Dixie State the following week. The games against Holy Names will be on Wednesday, March 14th at 1:00 and 3:00 PM. Games will be held at the Knights' Mission Blue field in Brisbane, CA.
