Lokey and Clay Named to Second Team All Region

San Francisco, CA- The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) released on Thursday the 2010 All Region Teams as voted by member coaches. Academy of Art University, newcomers the the NFCA as of 2010, received two second team honors in the West Region. Those honors were extended to Senior Shampayne Clay (San Leandro, CA) and junior Ashley Lokey (Eugene, OR). Clay was named to the team as a short stop, while Lokey was named as an outfielder. Both individuals were also named to the All PacWest First Team this season.

"I am extremely proud of Shampayne and Ashley," said Head Coach Rachel Sherman. "Everyone in our program knows how good they are and it is great to see them get the recognition from the coaches in the west region."

Clay had an impressive year for the Urban Knights. She finished with a .371 batting average (2nd on the team), with 59 hits, 35 runs, nine home runs, 45 runs batted in (1st on the team), a .591 slugging percentage, a .420 on base percentage, and had only eight strikeouts in 159 at bats. Shampayne also concluded the season with a .961 fielding percentage with just six errors at short stop all year.

Lokey led the Urban Knights both offensively and defensively all season. She finished with a .466 batting average with 76 hits, 48 runs, 14 doubles, one triple, 110 total bases, .675 slugging percentage, 34 walks (all 1st on the team), stole 21 bases, and had a .563 on base mark (also 1st on the team). Ashley also finished with an outstanding .977 fielding percentage.
