San Francisco, CA---Head Coach Lindsey Yamasaki adds two talented athletes to her already solid roster. Yamasaki announced Friday the signing of two stand-out athletes for the upcoming 2010-11 season. Both will add depth and strength to the Urban Knights’ roster. Madeline Martin (Portland, OR/Central Catholic High School) and Juluia Fraser (Brooklyn, NY/ State Fair Community College) are eager to join the Urban Knights squad.
Juliua Fraser, a 6’3 forward from Valdosta, GA, joins the Urban Knights after spending one season at State Fair Community College where she received All-Academic athletic honors. Prior to her play at State Fair Community College she sat out due to an ACL injury. “Juliua is that player that comes into the gym saying, ‘What can I get done today?’ She is new to the game but brings a 6’3 frame with long arms and a passion for learning," Yamasaki said. "I am excited to really teach Juliua and help her reach her potential,” adds Yamasaki . Fraser plans to major in Multimedia Communications.
At point guard for the Academy of Art will be Madeline Martin, a 5’5 freshman, who joins the Urban Knights after a successful high school career. Martin was a two sport athlete at Central Catholic High School and helped lead her team to an impressive 20-7 record along with a trip to the Oregon State Semi-Finals. “Madeline can shoot, she can create space and she has great vision, all three qualities of a good point guard," said Yamasaki. "I look forward to helping her raise her game and become a great point guard,” Yamasaki states. Martin graduated with a 3.9 GPA and had the best GPA on her team. She will major in Fashion Merchandising.
Both athletes will be looked to for immediate contributions on the court this 2010-11 season.
