San Francisco, CA ----  Academy of Art University women's basketball Head Coach Lindsey Yamasaki has announced the signing of three recruits - Alisa Griggs, Nicole DeRosier, and Devin London. All three student-athletes will join the Urban Knights for the 2010-11 campaign.

London, a 5'6 point guard from Oak Park, IL, gives ART U another option in the backcourt. Devin was a SICA South Conference First Team All-Conference selection and was named to the Northwest Indiana Times All-Area Basketball Team in High School. London joins the Urban Knights squad after a successful stint at John A. Logan Community College where she averaged 6.6 points and 2.3 assists per game.

“Devin's game is versatile and consistent; she is a scoring point guard with a presence and confidence of a seasoned collegiate athlete,” says Yamasaki.

A 5'9 guard from Puyallup, WA, DeRosier should provide a boost to ART U’s perimeter game. She averaged 13.4 points, while shooting 42% from the 3 pt line as a sophomore with Yakima Valley Community College. DeRosier was a First Team All-Tournament player in three tournaments, including the NWAACC Conference Championship. DeRosier was also a Second Team All-Region player.

“Nicole is a great addition to our roster. We need scorers and that is exactly what Nicole brings to the table,” says Yamasaki.

Yamsaki continues, “My favorite thing about Nicole is her feisty attitude. She is that player that is going to wrestle you to the ground for a loose ball; thing this team needs is someone that is not going to let us fall behind and be satisfied.”

Griggs, a 6'0 forward from Milwaukie, OR, will give the Urban Knights a strong presence under the hoop. “Alisa is strong, mobile and a smart player,” says Yamasaki of the incoming freshman.

During her junior campaign she helped her team win the Oregon State Championships and was an All-State Honorable Mention selection. She averaged 7.5 points along with 5 rebounds at Oregon City High School her senior year. Griggs was voted to the All-State Second Team during her final year of play.

“I expect Alisa to make a smooth transition to the college game because she had such a fruitful high school experience,” Yamasaki states.

The Urban Knights look forward to the start of their 2010-11 season, and are eager to witness the impact these three stellar athletes will have.
