Phoenix, AZ  --  Both senior Irinel Zamfir and junior Cassandra Schumacher have been selected to this week's Pacific West Conference Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll. The two Urban Knights turned in top performances for the Academy of Art University women's cross country team at the Sacramento State Hornet Jamboree this past Saturday. The honors were announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Sept. 13, for races contested on Sept. 11.

On the 5k course throughout Granite Regional Park in Sacramento, Zamfir qualified as the third finisher among Division II participants. She took 48th out of four-year runners in a meet composed primarily of Division I opponents. Zamfir's time of 20:22 improved upon her previous outing at the USF Invitational by more than 30 seconds.




Schumacher also topped last week's USF Invitational in terms of placement, taking home 54th among four-year runners. She posted a time of 20:39 on the 5k course which was good for seventh in terms of Division II participants.

This is the second Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll selection for Zamfir this season and the fourth in her career. After being chosen last week, this is Schumacher's second career selection.
