HANGING TOUGH

The Urban Knights traveled to Warrensburg, MO last weekend and held their own against some of nation's top programs. ART U walked away with a win in their final game of the Peggy Martin Classic. The weekend was full of challenges as they matched up with #4 University of Indianapolis in their first match of the tourney. But, despite dropping three match in three sets the coaching staff was very proud of the teams effort and is confident that the games better prepared them for conference play.

SCOUTING THE ARGOS
NDNU is 2-3 overall in the season entering into their match with ART U. They dropped two matches before picking up their most recent win over Holy Names University. Christian Villamayor had an impressive 32 kills and 14 digs in the Argo's win. The junior leads the Argo's offensively with 104 total kills; she also adds 59 digs in just five matches.

SCOUTING THE HAWKS
Holy Names started their season with four straight losses before picking up a win over Oregon Institute of Technology. The Hawks picked up their second win in three sets over West Coast Baptist. HNU took their match with NDNU to five sets but ultimately dropped the match by three points in the fifth. Samantha Miller and Ashley Nickell lead the Hawks with 94 and 78 kills respectively. Rebecca Chase chips in with 43. At the net for the Hawks, Rachel Vartarian leads the team with 19 total blocks, while Mariah Christensen has dished out 187 assists.


PACWEST TOP 10 HONOR ROLL
Senior Dan Yang was voted to the PacWest Top 10 Honor Roll for the second week in a row. The honor was announced by the Pacific West Conference Media Office, Tuesday September 14, 2010.

Yang ranked third for the week in the PacWest in points (56.5) and points per game (4.71). Yang also ranked second for the week in kills (50) and kills per game (4.17).

Despite matching up against some of the top programs in the country, Yang completed the four game Peggy Martin Classic in Warrensburg, MO with double-digit kills in three out of the four matches, and earned a spot on the Peggy Martin Classic All-Tournament Team.

Yang led the teams in kills over the weekend, and achieved a game high 15 kills in the Urban Knights loss to #4 University of Indianapolis. Yang helped ART U garner their lone win of the weekend by going 14-3-28, and tallying five block assists.

The senior also recorded seven block assists, two block solos and one service ace in the Urban Knights 1-3 weekend.
