San Francisco, CA --- Academy of Art senior outside hitter
Dan Yang (Beijing, China) has been named the Pacific West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week.
The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Sept. 20, for matches played from Sept. 13-19.
Yang helped guide the Urban Knights to a 2-0 week by averaging 4.25 points and 5.00 kills per game to go along with a .384 hitting percentage. She ranked fifth in hitting, second in scoring and tied for second in kills per game for the week in the PacWest.
Yang combined for 40 kills over two matches this weekend, knocking down 18 against NDNU and 22 in the Urban Knights 3-1 win over Holy Names University on Saturday evening.
Yang also recorded a combined 28 digs (second on the team) over the weekend. "Phooey has continued to be a consistent scoring force on our team," said Coach Alison Magner
Amy Bush (Jr., 6-3, MB,Yucaipa, CA/Yucaipa) earned a Top 10 Honor Roll nomination for her play over the weekend.
Bush ranked second in the PacWest in hitting for the week with a .607 average and posted 20 kills and three errors in 28 attempts.
Bush ranked 10th in scoring with a 3.57 scoring average, and had eight block assists and a block solo to total 25 points.
Bush ranked third in block average (1.29) for the week.
Bush was virtually unstoppable in the Urban Knights victory over Holy Names University, connecting for a season high 15 kills on 17 attempts. The junior also achieved a season high 7 block assists in ART U's win over Notre Dame de Namur.
