Ameer Shamsud-din shot the lights out for the Urban Knights in their matchup against UC San Diego, and to cap off a wild week where he set personal and school scoring marks, he earned the first PacWest Basketball Player of the Week selection of this season for ART U. Sophomore swingman
William Overton, Jr. was also selected to the PacWest Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll for his efforts. The honor was announced on Monday by the PacWest Media Office for games played Nov. 14-20.
Shamsud-din, the transfer with experience at Cal State Fullerton and North Idaho, was the Knights top performer for the Urban Knights on Saturday, setting a program record for points before halftime with 25 first-half points and finished the game with a Knights season-high 32. Shamsud-din was stellar after averaging 21.5 points, 3.5 assists, 2.0 steals and 3.0 three-point field goals made per game over the two contests.
He led the PacWest in three-pointers made per game, ranked second in scoring, and also shot 50.0% from beyond the arc, connecting on 6 of 12 three-point attempts to rank tied for seventh in the league in long-distance shooting for the week. He now ranks second on the team in scoring at 14.8 points per game, and ranks third in the PacWest.

William Overton, Jr. Even after a night where he was limited to only six points on Saturday, Overton still came up with an Honor Roll selection after his 26-point performance on Wednesday against Cal State East Bay. He averages 16.0 points pe game and shot 53.8% (14 for 26) from the floor last week, also averaging 2.5 steals per game.
This marked the first career Player of the Week selection for Shamsud-din, and the second time this season that Overton was selected to the Top 10 Honor Roll. He has seven selections in his career. The Urban Knight pick up again after Thanksgiving at the Grand Canyon Thanksgiving Holiday Classic.
