PacWest Release
Phoenix, AZ -- The Urban Knights used stellar performances from a trio of players last week to fuel a team-wide shooting binge and net the win against Simon Fraser on Saturday, and all three players were selected to the PacWest Top 10 Honor Roll. The Knights made program history against the Clan as Ameer Shamsud-din (22pts), William Overton, Jr. (20pts), and Czar Robotham (20pts) became the first threesome to break the 20-point barrier in the same game. The honor was announced on Monday by the PacWest Media Office for games played Dec. 5-Dec. 11.
For Shamsud-din, it was his third straight game (fourth overall) leading ART U in scoring, and his second consecutive (third overall) selection to the Top 10. Ameer also added seven rebounds, two assists, a steal, and a block against Simon Fraser, shooting 63.6% from the floor. He currently leads the PacWest in total points (142) and is first in points per game (15.8), 3-point field goals made (19) and in 3-pointers per game (2.1).
Overton, Jr. is picking up right where he left off last year, shooting 50.0% from the floor (7-for-14) to net his 20 points. He also made several key free throws down the stretch, including what turned out to be the game-winner with under five seconds left, and went 6 of 8 on the night from the line. Overton also led the Knights in rebounds (seven) and assists (five) against the Clan, and now ranks second in total points (128), fifth in scoring (14.2 per game), and second in free throw percentage (87.5%). It was the fourth time this year that Overton has been selected to the Honor Roll, and the ninth of his career.
Czar Robotham had a huge game, by far his biggest since the exhibition game against UC Santa Cruz back on November 5th. His 20 points were a career-high for a regular season game, and his mid-range shots were dropping all game to a tune of an astounding 76.9% (10-for-13) from the field. Robotham also had three assists and didn't take any shots from beyond the arc. He becomes the third Urban Knight to average over 10 points per game (10.1) and also ranks third in the PacWest in assists (3.8 per game) and fifth in assist/turnover ratio (1.3). It is his first selection to the PacWest Top 10 Honor Roll.
