Shoot, Score, Repeat: Overton and Shamsud-din Make Top 10 Again

PacWest Release
Shamsud-din Jumper

Phoenix, AZ -- One of the bright spots in the tough beginning to the Urban Knights men's basketball season is the continued growth of sophomore guard William Overton, Jr. and the immediate impact of transfer Ameer Shamsud-din, both of whom earned PacWest Top 10 Honor Roll selections for the second time this year. The honor was announced on Monday by the PacWest Media Office for games played Nov. 28-Dec.4.

Shamsud-din, who set a Knights season-high with 32 points two weeks ago, dropped 20 points and three assists on Menlo. Shamsud-din continued his strong play, averaging 18.0 points, 3.0 assists, and 2.5 three-pointers per game despite the Knights losing both contests.

Ameer currently leads the PacWest in total points (120), and is tied for third place in points per game (15.0), and also leads the league in 3-point field goals made (18) and in 3-pointers per game (2.8).

Overton Walkup

Overton is right with Shamsud-din in many categories on the team and made the Honor Roll again after a solid week for the Knights, averaging 11.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per contest last week. Will is just behind Shamsud-din in fifth place at 13.5 points per game for the year and second behind his teammate with 108 total points. He also leads the PacWest in free throw percentage (.917) and is ninth in both rebounding (6.1 per game) and steals (1.5 per game).

This marked the second PacWest Top 10 Honor Roll selection for Shamsud-din, and the third time this season that Overton was selected to the Top 10 Honor Roll. He now has eight selections in his career. The Knights will have a week before heading north of the border for the first time to take on Simon Fraser of British Columbia.
