Men's Golf Takes 15th at the Coyote Classic

San Bernardino, CA ---The Academy of Art men's golf team finished 15th at the Coyote Classic this week at Arrowhead Country Club in San Bernardino. The Urban Knights shot a 920 in the 54-hole event, 10 strokes ahead of PacWest rival Notre Dame de Namur.

Stuart Favretto led the Urban Knights individually, he carded a 221 with rounds of 74, 71 and 76 on Monday and Tuesday to place in a tie for 28th, 20 strokes behind individual medalist Eric Frazzetta of Chico State. Matt Garcia finished just seven strokes behind Favretto (76-75-77--228) and placed tied for 53rd.

Erik Majzner shot a team low 73 on the final round to finish tied for 71st after carding a 86-76-73--235 and Carlos Nones finished tied for 84th with a 54-hole score of 245 (84-82-79). Thomas Krepp rounded out the group, with a score of 77-89-79--245 to come in also tied for 84th.

Academy of Art trailed NDNU by 1 stroke after the first round of play on Monday afternoon, then came back on day two to move ahead of the Argo's by 10 strokes, finishing in 15th.  Central Oklahoma carded a team score of 844 to take the top spot. While Chico State finished second with a tournament score of 846, and Sonoma State took third with a score of 857.

The Urban Knights will return to action next Monday and Tuesday at the Cal State East Bay Pioneer Shootout at Hiddenbrooke Golf Course in Vallejo.
