Despite Tournament Low Final Round, Men's Golf Finishes 10th

Livermore, CA --- 
The Academy of Art men's golf team used a 19 stroke improvement to finish eighth in the third round of the NDNU Invitational. The Urban Knights carded a 308 over the final 18 holes, four strokes ahead of host Notre Dame de Namur, at Poppy Ridge Country Club Tuesday morning.

However, their first two round scores (346-327) dug them into a hole that they could not get out of. They ultimately finished the invitational in 10th place overall. The Urban Knights combined for a team score of 981.
 
Matt Garcia led the Urban Knights with a three-round total of 223, to finish in a tie for 16th place overall. Carlos Nones, who finished the third round with an individual low 76, 12 strokes better than his second round score (88), finished with a score of 245.
 
After shooting an 87-81, Thomas Krepp finished two strokes behind Nones with a 247, while Josh Purvis came in with a tournament score of 298.
 
Cal State Monterey Bay took both the top team and individual honor at the NDNU Invitational.  CSU Monterey Bay carded a three under par-861 as a team, while Dylan Jackson bested his first two rounds of 70 with a final round of 69 for a score of 209.
 
The Urban Knights next travel to Goodyear, AZ for the Grand Canyon Thunderbird Invite at Palm Valley Golf Club.
