Final Results
Vallejo, CA --- Lyra Yoe led the Academy of Art women's golf team to a fourth place finish at the Pioneer Shootout. Individually the sophomore finished tied for third place with first place Sonoma State's Brittney Markowski. As a team the Urban Knights finished 10 strokes behind Cal State Monterey Bay and 41 strokes ahead of host Cal State East Bay at Hiddenbrooke Golf Course in Vallejo. Yoe carded a 152 in the two-day tournament.
Shooting a tournament low 73 in the first round and a 79 on day two, Yoe finished with a score of 152 in the 36-hole event. Yoe ended the day just five strokes behind individual medalist Darcy Lake of Cal State Monterey.
Laura Huertas finished tied for sixth, carding a 154.
Carolina Ivarsson shot a 166 to place 16th out of the 42 golfer field.
Andrea Nieto finished with a score of 167, while
Sierra Sanchez shot a 87-91---178.
The Urban Knights, who are currently 24th in the Golf World/NGCA Coaches' Poll, finished ahead of Cal State East Bay, Chico State, St. Martin's University and fellow PacWest opponet Dominican University rounding out the top five of the eight-team invitational.
The Academy of Art women's golf team will next compete at the InterWest Chico State Invitational on Mar. 21-22 at Canyon Oaks Golf Club in Chico, CA.
