Swing for a Cause:
ART U holds their annual “Swing for a Cause” game on March 12th when they host Dominican University. The Knights are playing to raise money and awareness for Pediatric Cancer, while Dominican will play for Cervical Cancer. The Urban Knights will be holding a silent auction during the game and auctioning off their special edition gold jerseys after the game. All proceeds raised by ART U on the day will go to the UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital.

Recap for ART U: The Urban Knights made-up their double header against Sonoma State on March 9th. It was a close battled between the teams in both games, as ART U's pitchers were hard at work keeping thier opponents off balance. After a tough fight in game one, the Knights dropped the game with a score of 0-2. But the Knights were able to rally back in game two, and led the entire time coming away with a 4-1 victory.

Leading the Knights: Leading the team offensively is sophomore Julie Martin who has a .375 average with 15 hits, two doubles, eight runs scored, and a .457 on base mark. Junior Sierrah Garcia and freshman Katie Brooks are both doing a terrific job on the mound for the Knights. Garcia leads with a 2.19 ERA, a 5-2 record, and has 37 strikeouts in 49 innings pitched. Brooks is right behind her with a 4-1 record, a 2.56 ERA, and 17 strikeouts in 31 innings.

Scouting Oregon Institute of Technology: The Owls compete in the NAIA Cascade Collegiate Conference. They are off to a good season with a 10-3 overall record. The Owls recently split with Simpson University. As of March 8th, the team is led by Ashleigh Larson who has a .429 batting average with 15 hits, 10 runs, two doubles, three home-runs, 29 total bases, a .829 slugging rate, and a .535 on base mark. Also doing well this season is Jess Plummer who is batting .405 including 15 hits, four home-runs, 29 total bases, and a .784 slugging percentage. On the mound the team is led by their two aces, Taylor Schmidt and Jackie Imhof. Schmidt leads with a 0.48 ERA, a 5-4 record, and has 23 strikeouts in 29 innings. Imhof has a 1.29 ERA, a 7-6 record, and leads with 49 strikeouts in 38 innings pitched. Last time the two teams faced each other they split, with ART U taking the first game 6-5, and OIT taking the second game 6-5.

Scouting Dominican University: The Penguins sit in t 9th place in the PacWest standings with a 0-2 conference record and a 1-12 overall record. The team is led by Shana Robb who is batting .385 with five hits, one double, and a .429 on base mark. Behind her is Kellie Hislop who has a .367 average, 11 hits, three doubles, 14 total bases, and a .467 slugging rate. Molly Howard and Emily Hanson are both helping their team offensively as they sport a .367 and .357 batting average respectively. The Penguins faced OIT on March 10th, just one day before the Knights. This is the second of three meetings between the Urban Knights and Penguins this year. Last week when they two teams faced each other, ART U swept Dominican University.

Looking Ahead: After the weekend, ART U will travel to Arcata, CA to play Humboldt State in a double header on March 16th. They then continue on the road to play Notre Dame de Namur University on March 19th.
