Final Results

Granbury, TX ---In the Urban Knights last tournament appearance of the season, the ART U women's golf team claimed an outright sixth place finish at the 2011 Doc Housewright Tarleton Invitational. As a team the Urban Knights boasted a 638 tournament score at Harbor Lakes Golf Club Tuesday afternoon. The Urban Knights, who were in sixth at the end of round one, remained poised among the nation's top programs to stay in sixth place after 36-holes of golf concluded.

Lyra Yoe earned ART U's highest finish of the tournament. The sophomore boasted an 82 in her first round, which she followed with a two over-par 74 to close day two. Her total score of 156 landed her in sole custody of 15th place. Yoe registered five birdies over the course of the tournament, the third most of all competitors.

Crystal Superal also improved during round two. The sophomore went from 23rd place to tied for 16th after all 36-rounds of golf were completed. Superal carded an 80-77--157 over the two day event. Andrea Nieto finished tied for 32nd, shooting an 86-76--162.  Laura Huertas sank six birdies over 36-holes and finished tied for 55th (82-83--165). Teammate Carolina Ivarsson shot an 84-85--169 to place tied for 71st in the 108 golfer field.


The Tarleton State TexAnns finished ahead of Grand Canyon (611) and St. Edward's (619) to claim their sixth victory of the season behind senior Carla Cooper who won the individual title with a two-under par 142 (74-68). As a team the No. 3 Tarleton State golf club claimed the invitational title with a 592 total score.

This tournament concludes the 2010-11 ART U women's golf season.
