Weekly outlook: The Academy of Art University's softball team hits the road for one of their last road trips of the season. The next two road series are local as the Knights first play PacWest members Dominican University in their last match-up of the year. The team then plays their last non-conference game against NAIA members Holy Names University on April 27th. The double header against Dominican will be held on Saturday, April 23rd at McInnis Park in San Rafael, CA with games times scheduled for 12:00 and 2:00 pm.

Knight Re-cap: The Urban Knights most recently swept San Francisco State in their final home games of the season. The Knights defeated the Gators 6-5 in the 8th inning in game one, off a pinch-hit walk off single by sophomore Nicole Smith. In game two ART U won 7-5 after a back and forth battle with SFSU. The Knights improve their overall record to 25-17 after the sweep over the non-conference Gators.

Leading the Knights: ART U currently sits in 4th place in the PacWest standings with a 13-9 conference record. The team is led by freshman Elyse Cordova who is batting .423 including 58 hits, 35 runs, 70 total bases, 17 stolen bases, and has a .456 on base mark. Also doing well is sophomore Jayme Stewart who leads with 11 doubles, 31 RBI, and a .603 slugging percentage. The Knights are still ranked 3rd in the conference in batting average (.305), and pitching (2.79 ERA). Cordova leads the conference in hits (58), junior Genna Allen leads in triples (4), Stewart leads in doubles (11), and junior Sierrah Garcia leads in strikeouts (134).

Scouting Dominican University: The Penguins are currently ranked 9th in the conference with a 1-20 record. They recently earned their first conference victory over Notre Dame de Namur on April 16th. The team is led by Kellie Hislop who has a .327 average with 32 hits, one home run, 11 RBI, 41 total bases, and six stolen bases. Behind her is Crystal Albert who is also doing well with a .326 average and leads with 14 runs, seven doubles, one triple, a .421 slugging rate, and a .379 on base mark. Shawna Robb paces the team on the mound with a 5.19 ERA, 24 strikeouts, and has appeared in 22 games this season. The last time the two teams faced each other this season; ART U defeated the Penguins winning two games to none.

Scouting Holy Names University: The Hawks are having yet another solid season as they sit with a 25-18 overall record. Most recently they swept Menlo College on April 20th. The team is led by Rachel Martinez who is batting .338 with 22 hits, 10 runs, two home runs, 14 runs batted in, and has a .477 slugging rate. Also doing well is Taryn Thomas who has a .318 average with 27 hits, 25 runs, a .400 slugging percentage, and two home runs. Stephanie Fairclough leads on the mound with a 2.40 ERA, a 9-8 record, and has seen 110.2 innings of work. When the two teams faced each other last season, they split, each taking one game in the double-header.

Looking Ahead: The Knights will next travel to Phoenix, AZ for their last games of the 2011 season. They are set for a two day, four game series against PWC members Grand Canyon University on April 30th and May 1st. Game times are set for 12:00 and 2:00 pm on both days.
