PacWest Release
Phoenix, AZ -- Sophomore guard William Overton, Jr. has had a ball in Hawaii, a steady constant for the Urban Knights on their swing through the PacWest island schools. Despite an 0-3 week for the Knights, Overton's performance merited yet another selection to the PacWest Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll. The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Jan. 16 for games played Jan. 9-15.
Overton was in double digits all week, averaging 18.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, including a 26-point performance against Chaminade and a double-double (15 points, 13 rebounds) against BYU-Hawaii on Saturday night. The second-year player also shot 84.6% (11 for 13) from the line, and is still in the top three in the conference in that category, putting up a season mark of 82.5%.
Will continues to rank among the league leaders in multiple categories, as his 15.1 points per game is good for fourth in the PacWest, right behind teammate Ameer Shamsud-din at 15.5 points per contest. With his upward swing in rebounding, he now ranks in the top ten in that category as well, with 6.6 rebounds per matchup.
This marks Overton's sixth selection to the Honor Roll this season, and the eleventh in his two years as an Urban Knight. The Knights will play one more game in Hawaii on Monday night before returning home to take on the Hawaii schools at Kezar Pavilion starting on Saturday, Jan. 21.
