Shamsud-din Making Waves in PacWest, ART U Record Books

PacWest Release

Phoenix, AZ -- Ameer Shamsud-din made yet another appearance on the PacWest Top 10 Honor Roll after his performance in the Urban Knights 1-1 week against Hawaii Pacific and BYU-Hawaii. The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Jan. 23, for games played Jan. 16-22.

Shamsud-din averaged 22.0 points, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals week for the Urban Knights, and is atop the league in total points with 304. His 18-point effort against HPU and 26-point game against BYU-Hawaii, along with the 11-point output against Chaminade last night made it six straight games with over 10 points. Ameer is currently third in the conference in scoring average with 16.0 points per contest.

Last week, Shamsud-din also shot 90.0% (9 for 10) from the line, shot 62.5% (5 for 8) from three-point land, and averaged 2.5 three-pointers made per game - tying for second in the league over that time span. He is currently on pace to break the Urban Knights single-season record for three-pointers made, which was set at 45 triples by Weleh Dennis, and has also jumped into the top ten in program history in scoring in only his first year at Academy of Art.

This marks Shamsud-din's sixth selection to the Honor Roll this season. He has also been named PacWest Men's Basketball Player of the Week once, for the week of November 13th.
