KNIGHTS HEAD SOUTH FOR LONE CONTEST THIS WEEK

For the second consecutive week, the Academy of Art University men's soccer team has just one match on the schedule with California Baptist, one of last year's Pacific West Conference Co-Champions, up next. The Urban Knights enter this Saturday's contest coming off a tough loss to Notre Dame de Namur in which an early ART U goal was not enough.

OPENING KICKOFF
Academy of Art University will travel to Southern California to face California Baptist for the second time in two years. Saturday, Oct. 13 will feature the 1:00 PM kickoff at Lancer Soccer Field. Live Stats and Live Video will be available. Remember to check the @ARTU_Knights Twitter for score updates, videos, and recaps.

KNIGHT WATCH
It was a triumphant moment for the Urban Knights as they scored the 100th goal in program history on Oct. 4 at NDNU. Spreading the wealth this year, ART U has had 13 different players involved in a total of 12 Academy of Art University goals whether it be as the scorer or assistor. Senior Grimur Grimsson stands atop the offense list with a pair of goals and a pair of assists while quietly adding to his program records in total goals (14) and game-winners (7) this season. Junior Aron Ekberg, tied for 35th in NCAA Division II with five assists on the year, remains among PacWest's Top 10 in that category. Currently ranked 25th in the country in total saves (51), senior goalkeeper Ian Sutherland remains ranked second in the PacWest in that category.

LANCERS LOOKING TO LAST
On three separate occasions this year, California Baptist has enjoyed win streaks, but none have been more than three matches. The Lancers started the year with wins over UC San Diego and Cal State Dominguez Hills followed by 1-1 tie with Claremont Mudd Scripps and a 1-0 loss to the top team in the country, Fort Lewis. Starting its second season of PacWest play, CBU defeated Fresno Pacific 4-2 and Holy Names 1-0, but fell to Azusa Pacific 3-2. Now in October, the Lancers have defeated Point Loma 2-0, UH Hilo 4-0, and Chaminade 3-1, but BYU-Hawaii captured a 1-0 overtime victory most recently on Oct. 11. California Baptist is led by Jonathan Fausto's four goals (two game-winners), but seven Lancers have scored this year (including Jonathan Garcia who also has four assists) to compose a dangerous lineup. Defensively, Joey Pacheco has made seven of nine starts for CBU with 32 saves and a 0.97 goals against average.

THE WEEK THAT WAS
On the road for the first time in over a month, Academy of Art University headed south to Belmont for a pairing with Notre Dame de Namur, ranked #5 in the West Region. A mere 28 seconds in on the first play of the match, junior Sylvester Gyan headed a ball home to put the Knights up 1-0. Ekberg provided the assist on what now serves as the quickest goal in program history and also the 100th goal overall. However, despite the early advantage, ART U could not hold on as NDNU rallied back to tie in the first half, then go up 3-1 in the second period with a pair of goals by Armando Garcia for the day. The teams' storied rivalry continues when the Knights return home for their Senior Day on Oct. 26.

LOOKING AHEAD
ART U's road swing continues with a local match at Dominican on Oct. 18 followed by a trip to Fresno for the Knights' first-ever meeting with Fresno Pacific on Oct. 20.
