Crazy Eights! Shamsud-din Makes PacWest Honor Roll Again

PacWest Release

Phoenix, AZ --
Ameer Shamsud-din averaged over 20 points a week again, and picked up his eighth PacWest Top 10 Honor Roll selection of the season. The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Feb. 13, for games played Feb. 6-12.

The junior guard averaged 20.5 points per game while shooting 55.2% (16 for 29) from the field, good for second in the PacWest in scoring for the week. He also averaged 1.5 steals and 2.0 three-pointers made per game, and is still right behind BYU-Hawaii's Jet Chang for the leading PacWest season scoring average with 16.7 points per contest.

Shamsud-din has rocketed up the ART U leader boards in numerous categories, and recently set the Academy of Art record for three-pointers made in a single season, making 47 treys so far this year, more than the 45 by Weleh Dennis a couple years ago. The Portland, OR native is also well within reach of teammate William Overton Jr.'s single-season scoring record of 434 points, having scored his 400th point of the year in the loss to Grand Canyon on Monday.

Shamsud-din has also been named PacWest Men's Basketball Player of the Week once, for the week of November 13th. The Urban Knights return home for the remainder of the season, with the first game of the home stand on February 21st against Hawaii Pacific.
