Lucky Number Seven for Shamsud-din on Honor Roll

Phoenix, AZ -- Ameer Shamsud-din kept up his regular appearance on the PacWest Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll this past week after yet another week where he averaged at least 20 points. The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Feb. 6, for games played  Jan. 30-Feb. 5.
The junior guard from Portland, OR, led all scorers in both of the past games this week, dropping 16 in the loss to Dominican and 24 points in the overtime loss to NDNU. After his performances, Shamsud-din is now solidly in second place in scoring average behind BYU-Hawaii's Jet Chang, averaging 16.4 points per game, and still ranks first in total scoring with 344 total points.
Shamsud-din has been the Knights leading scorer in 11 of their 21 games this year, and has the season-high scoring mark for the school and the conference at 32 points. He also shot 90.9% (10 for 11) from the line and averaged 2.0 steals per contest - tying for fourth in the league for the week. His free throw percentage has steadily climbed this year, and he has shot 87% from the charity stripe since the beginning of January, compared to only 57% before the start of the new year.
This marks Shamsud-din's seventh selection to the Honor Roll this season. He has also been named PacWest Men's Basketball Player of the Week once, for the week of November 13th.
