Knights Brave Elements to Finish Ahead of PacWest Foes

 After breaking their team goal of shooting 300 as a team in the first round of the NDNU Invitational, the Urban Knights fought their way through rough conditions that hung around most of the Bay Area today to finish the tournament in seventh place. Alberto "Dago" Esponda finished tied for 17th place with a 228 overall, shooting a 77 in the final round.

Stuart Favretto fired a 79 and finished with a 230 overall to tie for 19th place, and Sean Etow shot 80 for the second round in a row to get to a 233 overall, good for 23rd. Cody Moore (241) and Tom Krepp (249) rounded out the Knights participants. Academy of Art finished ahead of their two PacWest rivals, placing in front of Dixie State and Dominican in the team standings.

Chico State pulled away in the final round to finish first, shooting a tournament-low 292 with all of their participants getting under 80 and finishing with an 883 overall. Kyle Souza fired a 71 (1-under), and then had to face Jordan Arndt (Colorado School of Mines) in a playoff to get the overall victory, as both players finished with an identical 216 overall score before the extra hole. Troy Davis (Notre Dame de Namur) and Brandon Johnson (Dallas Baptist) tied for third place with 217.

Colorado School of the Mines (893), Notre Dame de Namur (904), Cal State East Bay (908), and Saint Martin's University (909) rounded out the top five positions. The Knights will be back on the links on April 2-3 at the Cal Baptist Spring Break Collegiate.
