Ashley Lokey Proclaimed PacWest Player of the Week

PacWest Release

Phoenix, AZ --
After hitting over .520 through a six-game week for the Urban Knights, senior outfielder Ashley Lokey has been named Pacific West Conference Player of the Week. The PacWest's runs scored leader strung together a streak of five games in which she touched home plate last week in addition to blasting two home runs, knocking a pair of triples, and posting five runs batted in to help Academy of Art Softball split with Dixie. The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ on Thursday, Mar. 15 for games played Mar. 5-11.

Lokey started off her impressive week with a 3-for-4 game one at Stanislaus (Mar. 7) which included her second triple of the season. After going 1-for-3 with a run scored in game two, the Eugene, OR native returned to PacWest play with a bang by homering in the series opener with Dixie on Mar. 10. That shot would tie the game and helped ART U go on to win 3-1. In the second contest, Lokey went 2-for-4 with another home run, a double, and had her third three-RBI outing of the year.

The senior outfielder continued to hit the next morning against DSC, offering her 11th multi-hit performance of the year by going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base. She kept what is now a six-game hitting streak alive with a 1-for-2 series finale in which she tripled once again and scored her fifth run in as many games.

Lokey seems to demonstrate her five tools throughout every contest and now leads the team in runs scored (23, 1st in PacWest), slugging percentage (.747, 3rd in PacWest), on-base percentage (.483, 3rd in PacWest), triples (3, 2nd in PacWest), walks (12, 2nd in PacWest), and outfield assists (5) in addition to being tied for the team-high with five home runs and 17 runs batted in. Her .400 batting average ranks 6th in the PacWest and rose throughout the DSC series where she was 6-for-12 (.526) with two home runs, two doubles, two triples, five RBIs, a stolen base, and a run scored in each game. For the week, the senior posted an incredible 1.158 slugging percentage and a .591 on-base mark.

This is the first Player of the Week honor for Lokey in her career after she had previously earned seven Weekly Top 10 selections in her career.
