Ten at Ten: Shamsud-din Finishes Year On Honor Roll

PacWest Release

Phoenix, AZ --
It has been a memorable first season for Urban Knights junior transfer Ameer Shamsud-din, and he added to his collection of honors by being selected to the final PacWest Top 10 Honor Roll of the 2011-12 season. The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, March 5, for games played Feb. 27-March 4.

Shamsud-din and the Urban Knights only played one game last week, dropping a heartbreaker in the final minute to Notre Dame de Namur. The guard from Portland, OR scored 19 points and dished out four assists in the game, and finished the year strong, shooting 7-for-14 from the floor. He also added to his program-record sharpshooting total from beyond the arc, making 4-of-7 to finish the year with 55 3-pointers made, which was also good for a tie for second most in the PacWest this year.

In only one year, Ameer has already become the single-season record holder in points (466), with that mark also making him the fifth-leading scorer in program history. He will start next year as the third-leading active player on the roster, behind William Overton, Jr. (827) and Ivan "B.J." Prema (477). This season he was also second in the conference in scoring, at 16.7 points per game.

It was the tenth time that Shamsud-din was selected to the Top 10 Honor Roll this year, including one selection as the PacWest Player of the Week.
