OPENING SERVE
The Knights went back to how they got their first wins of the season, rebounding from a loss to Cal State Stanislaus with a gritty 5-4 win over Sonoma State, the first victory over the Sea Wolves in four tries in program history. Academy of Art came out of doubles behind 2-1, but rattled off four straight singles wins to clinch the match.

BATTLE OF THE BAY: EPISODE II
The Knights are entering part two of their journey throughout the Bay Area in an attempt to sweep their local rivals for the 2012 season. ART U already defeated Dominican 8-1 earlier this year, and then rolled through Belmont, defeating Notre Dame de Namur 9-0 as part of their five-game winning streak earlier this season. This time around they'll add Oakland to their target list, taking on Mills College in this upcoming road trip.

STUCK IN A HOLDING PATTERN
The Lady Penguins faced a lot of the weather problems that also plagued the Urban Knights last month, but Dominican University has not played a match since the March 10 matchup between these two teams, either canceling or rescheduling four matches in between. When ART U hosted Dominican, the Urban Knights won 8-1, taking two of three in doubles play and then continuing their singles dominance with five straight matches.

CARTOON HEROES
Kunkanda "Cartoon" Phukchampa was 2-2 overall last week and won both her singles and doubles matches against Sonoma State to earn a spot on the PacWest Top 10 Honor Roll. The senior teamed up with freshman Jenny Johansson to win the doubles match 8-4, while Phukchampa rebounded from a 4-6 loss in the first set to fire off two 6-4 victories to take the set. Phukchampa is currently ranked 13th in the region in singles play, and is 9-7 in doubles play for the Urban Knights. She is 8-6 when teamed with Amal Ben El Hadj, but while her partner has been battling illness this past week, Phukchampa and Johansson have gone 1-1.

COMING UP SHORT
Notre Dame de Namur continues to be plagued by injuries, only able to field five healthy players for their matches. That plays a big part in their 0-7 record this year, and the Knights took advantage of that last time the two teams met up, winning 9-0 in Belmont. Paola Correa Fe and Courtney DeWalt got the nod in the #1 doubles spot, defeating their NDNU counterparts 8-1. Cecilia Hedin and Sarah Lemp filled the #2 spot, beating Maria Galmdo and Katie Rosas 8-0. Jenny Johansson also won her singles matchup 6-0, 6-1.

BAY BRIDGE CROSSING
After playing Mills College this week, the Knights will have crossed the San Rafael Bridge to play Dominican, driven down the Peninsula to take on NDNU at Belmont, and now crossed the Bay Bridge to face Mills College, who most recently defeated NDNU 6-3. Notre Dame took both the first doubles match and the first two singles matches, but Mills won the rest to beat the Argos.

ON THE DOCKET
The Knights will have one match on April 17 against BYU Hawaii as a precursor to the PacWest Championships held at Dominican starting on April 19.
