Day 2 Team Scores
Bellingham, WA -- The Academy of Art University men's golf team wrapped up their opening tournament for the fall golf season on Tuesday, continuing their improvement from their first round. The Urban Knights finished just behind PacWest rivals Dixie State and California Baptist, coming in 11th place overall. Newcomer
Jordan Smith fired the best round of the day for the Knights, ending a run where he improved his score for all three rounds.
Smith shot an 80 in the opening round on Monday, but cut that to 77 in the second round and finished with a 74 on Tuesday.
Alberto "Dago" Esponda faltered a bit from his second round score but still managed to finish tied for 29th place overall to lead the way for the Knights.

Thomas Krepp all improved on their first round scores in the finale.
Host Western Washington won their own tournament running away, leading second-place University of British Columbia by 17 strokes. PacWest schools UH Hilo and Grand Canyon came in third and fourth, while CCAA rival Sonoma State rounded out the top five. The Vikings had three players in the top five, as Mark Strickland won the individual title as well, shooting a 209 overall to lead all players. He was followed by Josh Zhang (UBC) and Mark Geddes (GCU), who both tied for second. Jake Webb and Sandy Vaughan from Western Washington tied for fourth, while PacWest golfer Corey Kozuma (UH Hilo) sunk a hole-in-one on the way to finishing sixth.
The Urban Knights will be back on the course in the beginning of October, traveling to Corning, CA to participate in the Lindsay Olive Wildcat Classic, hosted by Chico State.
