Phoenix, AZ -- Breaking through with three goals scored in his last five matches,
Jon "Jay" Eldon was awarded Pacific West Conference Weekly Final 5 honors for his role in the Urban Knights' offense-heavy 3-3 tie with Point Loma this past Saturday. The conference announced the honor on Monday, Oct. 14, for matches contested Oct. 7 - 13.
Eldon seemed to be at the forefront of every ART U Men's Soccer attack against Point Loma, registering one goal (his second of the year) and later one assist for three total points in the match.
He put the Urban Knights up 1-0 at 27:12 on a cross within the box from
Frederik Nagel and later set up
Thorvaldur "Thobbi" Sveinsson for the game-tying goal at 67:11 by flicking the ball over the defender to put his teammate into position.
"That was a huge moment for us and for those guys," head coach
Mike Keller said. "They put up a huge effort all day today and I'm glad they created such a great goal."
Thus far, Eldon ranks third on the team in both total goals (3) and points (7).
This is the first weekly honor for Eldon this season.
