Phoenix, AZ -- For the third week in a row, Academy of Art University setter Rachael Smith has made the Pacific West Conference Final 5 for volleyball. The Urban Knights split their games between Holy Names and Dominican last week, with Smith assisting on the attack. The conference announced the honor on Monday, Oct. 21, for matches contested Oct. 14-20.

Smith continues to keep up her pace that puts her on track for her first 1000-assist season and an ART U record for kills per set. Last week she averaged 11.75 assists per set, which topped the PacWest in assist average for the week. She ranked second in total assists with 94 in eight sets.

Her 10.65 assists per set for the season ranks fourth in the conference so far, as her 831 total sets is the second-most in the PacWest. Against Dominican she notched 55 assists, her seventh match with over 50 sets here in 2013. She also got in five kills, which tied a season high, as she continues to improve on the attack as well.

The Knights head to Hawaii to play three matches in three days, and Smith will be leading the offense when they get there.
