TIPPING OFF
The Academy of Art University men's basketball team faced off against Simon Fraser of British Columbia last week, and after defeating them twice by a total of only four points, it was another close game, but the SFU Clan came out on top of a 78-75 win. Newcomer
Alexis Moore led all scorers with 20 points, making four of six from beyond the arc.
THE ROARING TWENTIES
Academy of Art has now played four games and in that span have had someone score at least 20 points in each contest. In the opener,
Alex Carmon dropped 31 points against Cal State East Bay, setting a new career high that he would later break. Against Humboldt State they had a pair of 20+ scorers, as
Alexis Moore scored 21 and
Aaron Aikman posted a career-high 26 points. Last week against Cal State Monterey Bay it was Carmon again, this time scoring 36 in an overtime contest, while it was Moore once again in the face-off with Simon Fraser scoring 20 points.
FROM THE NORTH TO THE SOUTH
The Knights will go from above the northern border of the United States to the bottom of the country, as they travel to San Diego to take on the Tritons of UCSD. UC San Diego split their exhibition schedule and have played well, losing their only conference game to Cal State San Bernadino by four but winning handily over Daemen College and St. Katherine College, dropping 95 points on the Firebirds, who are in their inaugural season. Drew Dyer has been doing it all for the Tritons, leading the team in scoring twice and in rebounds twice as well.
IN TRANSITION
After the Thanksgiving weekend game, the Knights will return home and open up the PacWest slate on Tuesday, December 3, against Point Loma Nazarene University. California Baptist will travel to San Francisco for a game later that week on December 5th.
