PacWest Release #7
Phoenix, AZ -- Building off a shutout of Chaminade on Oct. 26,
Joshua Leader posted an impressive string of three starts, playing all 298 minutes in goal for ART U in Hawaii. His efforts brought him Pacific West Conference Weekly Final 5 honors as announced by the PacWest Conference office on Tuesday, Nov. 5, for matches contested Oct. 7 - 13.
The transfer from Tennessee Wesleyan College had six saves in a 6-0 victory at Chaminade then turned around and saved three shots two days later in the 0-0 tie at BYU-Hawaii (Oct. 28). On Oct. 31, Leader logged five saves while allowing a single goal that unfortunately resulted in a 1-0 win for UH Hilo. Then at Hawaii Pacific, he offered a pair of saves in a 2-1 overtime win for the Knights.
Across the 1-1-1 week, Leader offered a 0.60 goals against average and an .833 save percentage while halting 10 of 12 shots on goal.
All in all, Leader had 16 saves on the Hawaiian Islands and earned back-to-back shutouts (something only ever done in Hawaii by Ian Sutherland in 2010) to start the trip. He currently ranks second in the Pacific West Conference in goals against average (1.06) and fourth in save percentage (.756).
This is the first weekly honor for Leader this season and in his career.
