2013 USTFCCCA NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field All-Region Team
New Orleans, LA -- The nation's foremost track and field organization announced the full list of All-Region awards, and the Urban Knights were well represented, as seven men and seven women notched a total of 29 All-Region honors. The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) stated that the top five from each region in individual events and each member of a relay ranked in the region's top three have earned the All-Region distinction for this season.
Academy of Art's
Vashti Thomas won awards in six events, the most in the country on the women's side. She garnered the recognition at 60 and 200 meters, in the 60 hurdles, as a member of the 4×400 relay, and in the long and triple jumps.
Dinesha Bean (200m, 400m, 60mH, 4x400m) and
Briana Stewart (60m, 200m, 60mH, Triple Jump) each were right behind her with four honors for the Urban Knights.
Keanna Moody (400m, 4x400m) earned two honors, while
Jenny Bergren (Mile),
Chantel King (4x400m), and
Julian Purvis (60mH) also made the list.
On the men's side, the Knights had three men earn multiple awards.
Johnny Carter (Long Jump, Triple Jump),
Shaquille Howard (400m, 4x400m), and
Emil Tolliver (200m, 4x400m) were on the list two times each.
Jaylon Hicks (60m) and
Clemens Kammer (Mile) each had honors for individual events, while
Stephen Peevy and
Erik Piedad earned a spot as part of the men's 4x400 relay team.
