Carmon Gets Another Week on Fantastic 15

PacWest Release #16

Phoenix, AZ --  It was Senior Day last week for the Urban Knights, but in their win against Notre Dame de Namur, freshman Alex Carmon did his part to send off the Knights' upper classmen, earning a spot on the PacWest Weekly Fantastic 15 for his efforts. The conference announced the award on Tuesday, Feb. 26, for games played Feb. 18-25.

Carmon, who is having a breakout freshman season after red-shirting last year, averaged 18.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.0 steals per game in a 1-1 week for the Urban Knights, who fell to Dominican in a close contest earlier in the week before taking down NDNU on Saturday. Carmon had a team-high 23 points against the Penguins and added another 13 points and seven rebounds in the win over the Argos.

Carmon shot 56.5% (13 for 23) from the floor and shot 75.0% (9 for 12) from the line, adding to his single-season record for getting to the free throw line for the Knights. In his first year, Carmon has made 105 free throws, the only Urban Knight to make more than 100 from the line in a season. He's also the leader in free throw percentage, making just over 80 percent of shots from the charity stripe. It marked Carmon's eighth selection of the year and his career.
