San Francisco, CA -- The Academy of Art University women's tennis team was down early but rebounded in singles play to take their seventh straight matchup on the tennis court from Dominican University. The Urban Knights dropped two of three doubles matches, but came roaring back to take five of six in the second half of the match to win 6-3.

Daniela Amelunge Antelo fell to Gaby Verspieren & Irina Morozova in first doubles play, and Maria Ariana Paradis teamed up with Marissa Frazer to take second doubles from
Michelle Dandik Zaale and
Kinga Kurczbuch in a close 9-7 matchup. The Knights were able to take third doubles in dominant fashion, as
Jenny Johansson &
Lucia Zavarcikova defeated Francesca Katafias & Emily Prescott 8-0.
Trailing heading into singles play, ART U had work to do. Gajdosikova fell in first singles in a long match, succumbing 7-6 (7-4), 1-6, 8-10. But the Knights won out from there to secure the victory. Dandik Zaale won in second singles 6-3, 6-3, while
Amal Ben El Hadj continued her dominance with a 6-0, 6-0 win in third singles. Johansson took the fourth slot 6-2, 6-1, Kurczbuch won in the fifth spot 6-0, 6-1, and freshman
Tamara Kenia came back from down 5-2 in the first set to win 7-5, 6-4 in the sixth spot.
The Knights (17-5) will play one more match tomorrow against Sonoma State before heading to Hawaii, starting with a prelude against BYU Hawaii and finishing with the PacWest Championships hosted by Hawaii Pacific.
