MacDonald's Hot Bat Brings In Fifth Weekly Honor

PacWest Release #12

Haily MacDonald
Phoenix, AZ -- Having hit over .300 for the majority of the season and continuing what is now a seven-game hit streak, sophomore Haily MacDonald raised her batting average even higher in a week where ART U Softball hosted both Hawaii Pacific and Holy Names. As a result, MacDonald was selected to the Hawaii Tourism Authority Pacific West Conference Fantastic 15, marking the fifth time she has made the list this season. The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ on Tuesday, Apr. 23 for games played Apr. 15 - 21.

Starting with Hawaii Pacific (Apr. 18), MacDonald went right to work in her first at-bat where she singled, then proceeded to steal third and home on an impressive double steal with teammate Elyse Cordova. Game two of that day saw the Santa Rosa, CA native post her sixth game with at least three hits this season. On base four times thanks to a 3-for-5 performance that included a walk, MacDonald scored on three of those occasions plus drove in two on a double in ART U's six-run second inning.

Two days later versus Holy Names (Apr. 20), MacDonald continued her hot sreak by going 1-for-4 in game one and following that up with a 2-for-3 game two. The second contest featured a RBI single in the second inning when Academy of Art rallied for three runs to go ahead and stay there. ART U would sweep the doubleheader.

For the week, MacDonald hit .467 in four starts, going 7-for-15 with four runs scored, a double, three RBIs, and three stolen bases. She also had a .533 slugging percentage and a .500 on-base mark. In addition to her offensive success, the sophomore threw a three-hit shutout against Holy Names, making her 4-4 on the season.

MacDonald is the only Urban Knight to have played in and started all 47 games and currently leads the team with a .351 batting average, 33 runs scored, four triples (4th in PacWest), and 12 stolen bases.

This is MacDonald's fifth PacWest weekly selection this season and the sixth in her Academy of Art career.
